Cash or Travellers Cheques

Hi, can anyone tell me the difference in the exchange rate for cash and for travellers cheques on the street in chaweng road booths..cheers

Cash or Travellers Cheques

T/C%26#39;s on average get you an extra 0.6 - 0.7 baht per GBP exchanged.

The fee per transaction is/was about 33 baht.

Of course you need to factor in the fee charged when you buy your T/c%26#39;S in the first place.

Today%26#39;s rate for GBP cash is 50.21, the rate for T/C%26#39;s is 50.89

Cash or Travellers Cheques

Use credit cards.

get a nationwide debit/credit card, no charges no commission, good exchange rate at atm%26#39;s

lol, did you guys read the question?

Nationwide are to start introducing charges in May.

Never use a credit card for cash withdrawals unless it is an emergency.

Seasoned travellers make their own choices depending on where they are visiting and their country of origin.Anybody eminating from the UK will find that their credit card company will probably charge them 2.5% for cash withdrawals. Therefore not a good choice.

Travellers Cheques and cash may be old technology but I suspect they will be around for some time yet as they are not as prone to being swallowed by ATM%26#39;s.

I am a huge fan of travelers cheques. American express do them commission free, and its 33 baht per cheque to cash (usually in $100 denominations)... compared to the $5 withdrawal + 2.5% on top my bank charges for using a card overseas (thats $7.50 minimum compared to $1.50), its a great saving.. why give that extra money in fees to the banks!?

sorry to butt in... but do you know what the nationwide are planning are charging???

cheers
