James Fashion International

Hi,

I also went to James Fashion International, and have the following advice:

STAY CLEAR of this rip-off joint!!!

They have armed guards at the entrance which should be ample explanation on what kind of place you should expect in entering.

A tuktuk also brought me here while it was not where I had asked to be brought. He was admittedly given a commission for doing so after spending nearly a thousand pounds. They placed alot of pressure in buying, more than I was needed. Which would have been fine had the material and stitching been up to par.

The quality was tragically off-base, and so was the tailoring!! The stitching was in fact way off: pants fell apart at the stitching within just two weeks. The material I selected was similar but NOT THE SAME as I found in the store. The fit was neither close nor comfortable.

This is rather amusing in retrospect, considering the website (http://www.james-fashion.com/) and location on Sukhothai Road give a false impression of a top notch business. Some renown Western fashion guru should review this SHAM business!

The SERVICE IS BASED ON EXTORTION... You wasting time and money, and tipping excessively for what amounts to a disreputable shoppe purely and simply.

The expertise at James Fashion on Sukhothai Road lies not in its tailoring but in the ART OF CONNING tourist travelers.

Stay clear, stay clear, stay clear - Well, you can%26#39;t say you weren%26#39;t warned :)

i used jame fashion and was disgusted by the quality of the clothes. the buttons fell off on the coat I had made on the first time i wore it when i got back.

I told them several times that I had friends who were coming and that if the quality was good, i would order on line. They refused to take this into account and had several bad fittings where they try to tell you that they did it correctly when you can tell it doesn%26#39;t fit.

Very sloppy work. i would not recommend them to anyone.

james fashion is KNOWN for its scamming process. Read through this forum and you will find plenty of reports just like yours

According to this recent post on the thaivisa Bangkok forum, Savile Row, Excelsior Fashion and Tailor Pro are all affiliated with James Fashion.

thaivisa.com/forum/Tailor-Experience-Savile-鈥?/a>

Can anyone confirm this?

Their brothers in arms the infamous Savile Row Internet fake forum spammers are now attempting to spam YouTube (just started happening)

Probably the same guys they hire to write all their fake reviews etc...

As connected as James Fashion is, I would assume they are buying out the competition.

I didn%26#39;t know that they speak such poor English in Ireland. James Fashion must have ordered his sweeper to quickly reply to these posts.

Priceless!

Nice one, diatheke. So you are promoting privatetourthailand.com as well?

Driver in Phuket

Hello fellow travellers,

We will be in Phuket in 2 weeks (counting the days!) - Is it better to organise a driver before we arrive or wait until we get there?

If so, can you please recommend a driver who speaks reasonable english?

Much appreciated!

Cheers

MJC

Driver in Phuket

My recommendations; Mai (hknuch@hotmail.com) and Koy (koyphuketdriver@hotmail.com). Both speak english well, are trustworthy, reliable and friendly.

Best to book before you go.

Driver in Phuket

I have used Pure Car Rent http://www.purecarrent.com , they also have car with driver. But if you can drive, driving in Phuket is not difficult. Just drive carefully and beware motorcycle.

good luck

So Augie, are you the owner or do you just work there ? Remember, beware motorcycle, lol.

I would recommend Daj ( kanidaj@hotmail.com) , he speaks English, safe driver, has great sense of humor ! I emailed Daj before leaving Oz .

We also used a tuk tuk driver named Tom (mobile 081-6195081) ...he owns a very cool tuk tuk, comfy seats and clean, and he always played music for us ;)

We would call Tom and he would pick up from our hotel, and then call him again when we were ready to go back to hotel. Tom was very friendly and safe, and didnt good rates..saved us from constantly bargaining prices with tuk tuk drivers!

What sort of prices did TOM charge? Can you give a couple of examples?

Thanks

sorry correction on my last post ';and didnt good rates'; .. he DID give good rates

Hi SLeepy,

Karon to Patong 300 Baht, Karon to Kata 200 Baht , Karon to Kata Noi 250 Baht.

reliable scooter hireshop near Mercure Hotel,Patong.

We will be staying at this hotel 03 april for 7 nights and i need info on a reliable moped hire shop. We need a scooter for 2/3 days to tour around the south of Phuket, we do not intend to use it in patong as we have heard about the busy traffic/crazy drivers.Any info and prices would be appreciated. many thanks, Norny.

reliable scooter hireshop near Mercure Hotel,Patong.

we hired moto%26#39;s from a shop quite near the mecure. It was pricy compared to the beach hawkers, but still affordable. 300 baht for the day and discounted if you hired for longer.

The shop is just past the 7/11 across from the Patong Merlin. So if you walk out of the Mecure, turn right and its no more than 50m down. There is a sign above the shop that says bike hire and laundry.

Just some general feedback regarding the bikes....We were asked to leave our passports, but we arranged to leave a cash deposit instead (3000 baht per moto)

We did not get our deposit back.......our own fault. We had an accident on one of the bikes and it ended up with a few scratches. Probably not enough to warrant the amount they kept, but we were over arguing about it!

Be careful to check the tires, ours were bald and coming around a corner, hit some gravel and skidded out.

cheers

3000 baht was cheap. Imagine if you had slid in front of a car. The bike would have been a write off, and possibly hospitalization for you.

Chances are that you don%26#39;t have a valid bike licence and probably no IDP which is required to drive/ride in Thailand. Without these any travel insurance that you had would have been void.

I think Dragon just posted a report on traffic statistics in Phuket. Pretty scary stuff and all you need to come unstuck is a little gravel on the road.

Play safe guys.

you are right, 3000 is cheap.

poor assumption on the licensing though. But good warning to others looking to hire.

we were riding safely in a quiet area, as I said, bad tyres a tight corner and gravel just don%26#39;t mix!

We never ever would rent bikes, dragonc post was interesting.

300 a day though sounds very expensive, it was my impression that hire rates were about 150 a day most places in Thailand.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I think i%26#39;ll check out Dragons%26#39; statistics first, then consider my options. I have a uk licence but not the international one. thanks for the info. norny.

  • Night River Cruises

Having been to Bangkok on numerous occasions and never having experienced the delights of the much talked about river cruises we decided to go on one this year. I would like some reccomendations for a night cruise with dinner. We are staying at the Novotel Siam Square. Thanks so much.

    Night River Cruises

I am certain that you will enjoy yourselves, it is quite a pleasant experience. I have done two. The first was with the Montien Riverside- I was staying there and they had their own small rice barge. Excellant in all ways, but not cheap

The second I booked via a tour guide I had hired by name of Wandee e mail cin1133@yahoo.com, this too was a first class night out. Good food and entertainment and good value.

It is probable that your Hotel could also arrange one for you. This is certainly a popular night out and many choices availiable, But yes do go a really lovelly way to spend an evening

    Regards

    Dave

Great evening cruise on a converted rice barge:

Here%26#39;s a list of dinner cruise service, each one has different prices. But it ranges between 1500-2500 baht/person.

I have tried the one with Oriental Hotel (thought not staying there) and it was amazing. I did it twice. My parents tried also the one with Marriott Riverside but they liked the one with Oriental most, expecially the pre-cruise coktail.

Visiting late May - early June: Weather Concerns

Hello. I am considering planning my honeymoon and we are thinking of visiting Thailand from May 29th - June 15th.

    We would like to visit:

Bangkok, Chang Mai, and beaches in the south. Our preference is the Andaman Sea side: Krabi, Railay, Lanta and Phuket but we hear the weather may not be ideal.

Is this unrealistic? What should we expect? I have visited Koh Samui and Koh Tao in Late June before and it was totally fine. Should I expect the same?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Visiting late May - early June: Weather Concerns

When you went to Koh Samui and Koh Tao in June weather would normaly be fine, there is a different weather pattern in that area from the Phuket / Krabi / Lanta ara, June is not so bad but certainlyt expect more rainfall. Ferry crossing to islands such as Lanta etc may be affected. Again, noit the worst time but perhaps have a think. If you have felxibility you could perhaps head to the samui side and then see what the weather is like one there.

Visiting late May - early June: Weather Concerns

Gulf and Andaman side islands are affected by different weather patterns. Certainly the Gulf side will have better weather during your timeframe.

We have some pics and stories of our trip to Koh Phangan and koh Tao during June here... www.bobandjanette.com which may help.

    Happy %26amp; safe travels

Check this out for weather details - -

Krabi etc is liable to be wetter than the Gulf.

Thank you. This is all very helpful!

  • Honeymoon Advice Late April- mid May

We%26#39;re using Hong Kong as the base for our honeymoon in late April/early May, and are thinking about spending 3-5 nights in Hong Kong, and 8-10 nights somewhere else in SE Asia.

Any thoughts/advice/travel agent recommendations for a trip from Hong Kong?

Right now, we%26#39;re considering Malaysia, Thailand (east coast given the season), Vietnam or Lombok - main goals are a beautiful beach with swimming, access to good snorkeling, access to wildlife as well would be ideal. Luxury accommodations may be doable, given that it%26#39;s for our honeymoon, but it does depend on how much airfare and other activities will be.

    Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!!!
