Hi there, does anyone know if it is worth upgrading from a Superior room at the Cape Panwa? If so how much would we expect to pay? What extra would you expect in an upgrade?
Cape Panwa Hotel - worth upgrading from a Superior?
If you read the hotel reviews on TA, the most common cause of a holiday being ruined is being put into a substandard room. It seems most Phuket hotels, even some 5 star, have some terrible, terrible rooms they try to foist upon unsuspecting tourists. Getting an upgraded room will not guarantee not getting one of these dodgy rooms, but it should be less likely.
Deluxe over superior %26#39;usually%26#39; means a better location and slightly nicer fittings, but you have to weigh up the cost.
Check out somewhere like sawadee.com or AWD to look at the room types. They show you the differences between them, but not usually whether it%26#39;s in a better location.

It varies such a great deal, perahsp someone who has stayed recently and knows both can help.
What time of year are you going? If it%26#39;s high or peak season then perhaps you need to considor based on what you read, if it is low season though best to go for standard and thenb you can always take a look at better rooms and decide if you want to change.
If you are in a standard room it is easy, if available, to move to a higher grade room if you decide it is worth the extra. What you can%26#39;t really do is book a high grade room and then decide cheaper are better value and try and get a refund !
Time of year is important - re availability of other rooms.
Thanks for your messages. We are arriving on 25th March. Is this likely to be a busy time?
Difficult to say, it can vary place to place, the main peak of high season over.
They drop their rates from April 1st down about 25% for their low season rates.
I would wait till you get there, if you go for a more expensive room and you find it%26#39;s not worth it you are very much stuck with it.
What price difference is being offered ?
Not sure of the extra - there are various different types of rooms to upgrade to. I think I will take your advice and wait till we see our room and what others are available. Many thanks for replying.
The superior room at cape panwa has everything you need.
save your money
The jaccuzi suit is bigger it has a separate lounge area and a Jaccuzi on the balcony.
trust me there is so much to do in this hotel and Phuket in general you will only use your room for sleeping and changing!
The pool villas have more room and a little pool leading out from the back, they are a little overlooked and the pool and beach are free.
The time of year you are going, like me, is at the end of the season the hotel will not seem busy the pool and beach will not be crowed.
There are much better things to spend your cash on.
