Which Thai Island in August?

I am looking for advice on which Thai island would be best in August? We are looking for something away from the more touristy places with just a few restaurants for night life. We went to Koh Samui a few years ago, 10 years after first visiting and it was too touristy now for what we are looking for. We have since travelled through places in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos a little further off the beaten track and we are looking for something similar in Thailand. I am aware that weather could be an issue at this time of year. Many thanks!

Which Thai Island in August?

Have you been to Koh Phangan? It is about 2hrs by ferry north of Koh Samuii and is a very pretty island. Provided you are not there during a full moon party it is quite relaxed. Some of the lesser known areas off the beaten path are quite remarkable. Weather during August would be fine.

We have some pics, maps and stories of our trip here... www.bobandjanette.com which may prove useful.

Happy %26amp; safe travels

Which Thai Island in August?

Definately Koh Samui, Koh Phangan or Koh Tao at that time of year.

In August certainly Koh Phangan, Koh tao and Samui area for best weather.

If you have time and don%26#39;t mind going a little off the commercial tourist trail there are some nice coastal beaches with small towns and villages and more rural life down the coast between Bangkok and Chumphon from where you can take the boat to Koh Tao or Koh Phangan. Baan krut and Bang Saphan are quite but there are cabana style a/con resorts and a few bars and local restaurants, also the very quiet Koh Talu island off bang saphan.

If you go down the coast by train you can stop at some of these places before Koh tao and Koh Phangan if you want to see a little more of Thailand.

Then you can hop over to Samui to get a flight back to Bangkok.

Thankyou very much for the replies. I will look into these places.
