i%26#39;m looking for a suitable guesthouse or cheap hotel in khao san road in bangkok. i%26#39;m happy to pay 30USD per room per night for a double room with our own bathroom and braeakfats !

Any one recommend hotel or guesthouse in Bangkok ?

Lamphu house and lamphu tree house are two completely different places and its lamphu house that is just off of khao san.

Plus lamphu tree house is 2x more money.

I stayed at lamphuhouse once before and I am staying again in 18 days. Highly reccomended.

Actually is looks like lamphu tree is near khao san too, but further than lamphu house.

Lamphu house is the better price though.

If you know you will be staying at Thanon Khao San (that%26#39;s Khao San Road) you can do some research online before you go and have an idea of where the place is.

When you get to Bangkok you will see that it%26#39;s crazy over there. Especially Thanon Khao San. That road has hotels on top of hotels. There are many small establishments that you will not find online. Go there and you can spend one or two nights at Lamphu House, but give yourself a chance to look at other guesthouses in the area. You might find a nicer place for cheaper price.

Personally I don%26#39;t like Khao San Road. Too far from BTS/MRT. I like Suk11 near Nana. You have easy access to all the malls and temples via BTS and water taxi. Plus the environment over there is less touristy than Khao San. Khao San is depressing after 2 days. It%26#39;s too touristy, very money oriented and not much Thai culture. The only two good things in that area is May Kai Dee%26#39;s Cooking School and Sor Vorapin%26#39;s Muay Thai Boxing School both of which were very fun.

IM not sure of where is good to stay but most travellers who use the have been using www.khaosanroader.com, its not the most infomrative but you can check out the places websites. dnd is always a good choice because its right on the main street. it has a swimming pool area so you dont have to go far. when you stay in a dinge hole you tend to go out a lot and it costs money to entertain yourself.

pannee lodge at the top of the street is good but im not sure of the prices. its got a health spa and it is well secure.
