I did find this map shoving some shopping + eating places in Klong Prao area:
www.whitesandsthailand.com/maps/kp.html
Any ideas, are the restaurants like the The Taj Indian (near the VJ Plaza) and Abella Italian (Koh Chang Plaza) still open and in those places?
We are thinking to stay in Chai Chet or Coconut Palm Beach Resort (they both look so good + attempting!) ;)
And is there any ATM machines or money exchange boxes near these 2 hotels (or maybe in the VJ Plaza/Koh Chang Plaza)?
Is this map still valid (Klong Prao area)?
yes, that%26#39;s probably the best map of the area. Those restaurants are open, or at least there are many clone alternatives (I%26#39;m not good with names) at least 3 Italian in the 2 plazas at Chai Chet. At least 3 ATMs and one real bank at Chai Chet.
Is this map still valid (Klong Prao area)?
In general the map is ok
Some changed, also some owners like the taj.
However, Coconut is a great deal for sure. And there are plenty o places around for eating ...
There are about 100 AtM all over the island, in Chai Chet about 10.
Have a great trip
Thank you for the info :)
I was bit worried if the area of Chai Chet/Coconut Beach doesn%26#39;t have restaurants/shops... But I think the are is ok ;)
Kaibae, you did mention that the Taj Indian owners are new? But they still serve indian food there?
Any ideas, is it easy to get a ride from Chai Chet to Klong Prao center or White sand in the afternoon (about 6pm) and back maybe 9pm/10pm?
Hi, just returned and we stayed close to the CHai chat - a little further down the beach. The Chai chet is the one right at the end by the pier? Looked lovely - and a straight walk down the road brings you to main road - right opposite the plaze. The Italian meals there were absolutely excellent and wonderful sundaes/ice creams at the restaurant/bar on the front. I think called the yes - all the food there was fine. Once you%26#39;re on the main road - just jump one of the taxis that are passing regularly - it%26#39;s set prices - 50 baht per person from there to White Sands and also 50 baht the other way into Klong. We made the mistake of taking a trip to Ban Baou in evening - lovely place - and the taxi driver insisted on waiting. He was probably laughing - as we arrived at about 8 pm and it was clearly all closing up. Managed to have a lovely fish meal but a bit rushed - as we felt we were keeping them open.
On the bank side - they are open 7 days a week for money change etc but the hours are a bit strange - not the same as the office hours - but they are posted on the window of the bank. The hotels gave ridiculously low change rates when we enquired so we avoided them.
Jone - Don%26#39;t worry. The Taj Indian restaurant still serves Indian food. There are also Mexican and Italian restaurants in Chai Chet.
Sounds just perfect ;)
Are the any grocery stores/mini markets around Chai Chet area (where to buy some small snacks + drinks for the day...and maybe sun cream also)?
One of my all favorite store is on VJ Plaza in Chai Chet which is the largest store on the island. So Chai Chet will be just perfect.
