I heard some places on Ko Chang play jazz and blues. Has anyone any more info regarding this?
Also I haven%26#39;t read many reviews on Saffron on the Sea for accomodation. Has anybody reading this stayed there or have any comments to make. Thanks
Jazz and Blues music
Try JuJu at the southern end of Klong prao beach. On the main road about 200 metres north fo the turning for the Amari Emerald Cove. run by a French musician with eclectic taste - everything from jazz to reggaie to African stuff.
Or in Kai Bae %26#39; Blues Cha Cha%26#39; is reopening on 14 March. It opened a year or so a go, didnt get customers and closed pretty quickly, hopefully the band will be better this time and play more of the type of music people want to hear.
On White Sand beach, try %26#39;Oodies%26#39; near Cookie Hotel on the main road. Their band plays some old rock/blues stuff and they also have acoustic music.
Safforn is only small, not surprising there aren%26#39;t may reviews. Nice friendly place though with an excellent restaurant
Jazz and Blues music
For JuJu walk down the beach towards south to Ma Maison just past Penny%26#39;s to the end of the road and ask Stephane, the owner, a big guy with a moustache, when they are going to play next time. It%26#39;s not far from Saffron. Otherwise you make it all the way to Kai Bae and they are closed. It%26#39;s very irregular, sometimes they don%26#39;t play for more than a week.
You could also check Rock Sugar in Kai Bae, they do Blues sometimes, the band, the equipment and the music are awfull. And there is another place just opposite Sawadee Restaurant in Kai Bae with Thailand%26#39;s worst band.
Just for fun if you do need life music and you are in the area anyway.
Thanks Ian, only four weeks to go before I leave for he island. Can%26#39;t wait. (You%26#39;ve been very helpful.)
Thanks for your honest response Kaibae, it%26#39;s appreciated.
live music ????
Yes, live music - the places mentioned in this thread have live bands.
If you are here next weekend there will be a few bands playing at Blues Cha Cha, Kai Bae for their re-opening. The best known is %26#39;Buddha Bless%26#39;. If you have never heard reggae/dancehall in Thai language then it%26#39;s pretty good.
