Koh Samui in Dec?

Hi All,

I went to Phuket Xmas before last, and Had a Blast!!!! So Much that i wanna go back again this Xmas, But would like to try somewhere different, Got my heart set on Koh Samui, but dont know what that weather is like? is it the rainy season? One more question please, gather Chaweng is the most popular place, but am very fussy about a nice beach, is there anywhere on Koh Samui that matches its beach?

So What shall it be guys??? Phuket or Koh Samui, Phuket or Koh Samui, Phuket or Koh Samui................

Koh Samui in Dec?

IMHO I would always choose Samui BUT December can, and is often, still rainy. We have been a number of times at that time of year and had a variety of weather. We have also been to phuket and a lot of other places in Thailand.

It is very busy then as well.

Chewang is where it is all happening and the beach there is good and the water at that time should be higher.

You don%26#39;t say where in Phuket you stayed, as that would give an indication of what type of thing you like.

The decision has to be yours.

Things get booked up for Christmas pretty early.

Koh Samui in Dec?

Thanx for the reply. was in Patong, well kata actually, and the weather was faultless, would like to try samui, but dont want the weather to spoil it, dont mind a couple of days rain, but dont want it to rain thro-out the holiday and EVERY DAY?? or am i just being TOO picky??

Mike.

The mid and south part of Chaweng is very nice with white sand and clear water, just like Kata.

I prefer Chaweng for several reasons:

-Unlike Kata there are plenty of hotels in front of the beachroad with direct access to the beach.

-The beach is big and not packed with sunbeds like Kata. Most of them belong to each hotel free of charge for the guests.

-Chaweng is pretty charmless like most tourist towns, but the strip is a lot bigger than Kata with many restaurants and shops within walking distance.
