When is best time to book flights for xmas from the UK

Want to paddle my own canoe this year and book flight and accom direct.Flights are looking fairly expensive at the minute around #860 to Phuket. I only want direct to Bangkok (did Qatar stopover before - nightmare) If I wait is there a chance I will get a better deal or will I run the risk of not getting the flight I want?? Also any tips on which websites offer the best deals will be most appreciated.

hi, we have just booked our flights with qatar flying out boxing day..what did you mean nightmare stopover, we have the same flight is there anything I should be aware of we are 5 adults 3 children, did get good flight prices though, 拢485 adult, 拢415 child flying from heathrow....booked through hoodaki..any info greatly appreciated..julie

Our flight was out of Gatwick. The nightmare was that when we stopped at Qatar there was absolutely no info about where to go etc to get back on the plane!! There were no notices or boards up to say the gate or what time we were to get back on the plane!! It was all very disconcerting but we did spend the guts of 1 1/2 hours wandering round like headless chickens worrying we were going to miss the next leg. We eventually spotted someone who was on our plane (thanks to his loud shirt!!)standing at a departure gate and he had managed to get the info from someone although by that time it was last call!!

Also it adds a lot of extra time to the journey. Having said all that the flight itself was very good and crew were very pleasant and efficient. If I was you please make sure you grill one of the stewards before you land in Qatar about gates, times etc; Qatar airport is like a cattle mart and the security staff are awful.

We always travel at Xmas time and I would advise that you book your flights sooner rather than later as prices definately rise closer to the time, as it is super peak time availability can get tight, if you are flexible on your travel dates it may not be so bad.

Try Trailfinders or Dialaflight. Eva fly direct from Heathrow and seem to be fairly priced.

BA tend to a have sale around August (although no guarantees) if you are prepared to take a risk and wait.

We booked our flights recently for 拢465 with Cathay Pacific through STA Travel (not just for students though!). But this was with them doing a price match with lastminute.com - which i found had the best search facility.
