Hello all
Wondered if anyone could advise me. I am off to Thailand at the end of the month visiting Bangkok, Chiang Mai and then onto Phuket for the majority of the holiday. As me and my partner will be on Phuket for8 nights I wondered if anyone could recommend an island to visit and possible stay for 1 or 2 nights. I was looking at Koh Lanta but the issue I have with that is the long ferry ride from Phuket to Phi Phi and then on. Obviously we could trek round Phi Phi between ferry times but I wonder if any of the islands closer to Phuket would be a better choice
Or maybe I%26#39;ve got it all wrong and the ferry trip will be worth the 4 or so hours
Any advise would be much appreciated.
Cheers

It%26#39;s quite a nice ferry trip, a chance to do some sunbathing and you get an hour to see the twin bays on phi-phi. But if you think it%26#39;s too long then maybe you should look at the Koh Yao islands, Yai and Noi, they are closer and very different to Phuket.

Why not just stay on Phi Phi. Very beautiful and an easy ferry ride.
For eight days I would stay in phuket for 3 nights, then catch the morning ferry (2hrs) to Phi Phi for 2 nights, then ferry to Krabi for 3 nights. You can then catch your flight back to BKK (if that%26#39;s your departure point) direct from Krabi airport.
We have some pics, stories and maps of our similar trip here... www.bobandjanette.com which may help.
Happy %26amp; safe travels
ko racha is about 40 minutes by speed boat .We stayed there for 4 nights in january...bungalows racha... beautiful view of bay blue water whitest sand. 1000 baht per night!.No roads just trails to other beaches and a couple other resorts and restaurants.Perfect four 2 or 3 days. Ko yao also very nice and quiet beaches not quite as spectacular
Thanks everyone for the reply%26#39;s. Some very helpful advice which I will take on board
I also visited Ko Racha and IMVHO it was infinitely nicer that Phuket. I stayed in Ban Raya resort which had amazing food and lovely rooms. I snorkelled and dived every day. There%26#39;s also horseriding , a spa and a beautiful infinity pool.
The boat just takes 30 minutes from Chalong Pier , but the island really feels like Thailand in the early 1990 !
You won%26#39;t regret it !!
