Mae Sai accommodation

Hi

We would like to stay a night or two in Mae Sai

ive had trouble finding a hotel in town , any ideas

Thanks John

Mae Sai accommodation

There is one ';first class'; hotel in Mae Sai - Wang Thong Hotel. But it is hit or miss when it comes to quality, they aren%26#39;t very consistent with maintenance or housekeeping.

There are lots of smaller guesthouses and usually there are rooms available. If you have easily portable baggage, take a stroll down the road to the left as you face the bridge (actually down a road beside the bridge, then left through the market area). There are several decent lodges, but can%26#39;t pull any names out of my dusty memory at the moment. Most will let you check out the room before you sign in and pay.

Thanks for the report ,we are not going untill late July so we may take pot luck at finding a place by the river, ihave heard the Wang Thong is not as good as it looks

thanks

A short 15 minutes out of Mae Sai is the Golden Triangle and there are a number of nice hotels and resorts there.

Thanks , can you give me any recommendations in the golden trinangle

Cheers John

Well I%26#39;ll be the lone voice in favour of the Wang Thong. I%26#39;ve had a dozen stays there over the years, and for around 1000 baht a night you get your money%26#39;s worth. If you have to be in Mae Sai then the location is perfect, you%26#39;re walking distance to everything, and it even has a big pool.

If you DO relent and stay there, ask for a room with the balcony view over looking Tachilek and the mountains beyond.

We may yet stay in Mae Say , is Tachilek worth half a day or is it just to saying ive been to Burma

Cheers

Talichek is more of ';I have been to Myanmar'; destination than anything. There are a couple of places to visit, temple, local market, but mostly it is a big street market of cheap Chinese goods, cd knockoffs, cigarettes and viagra copies.

We stay at The Imperial Golden Triangle, great view from all rooms, and easy walk to local riverside restaurants opposite.

Thanks , ill look the imperial up , do you know if it is a sister hotel to the imperial Mai Ping in Chaing Mai

Cheers

Yes, it is - they are in the same marketing group, but may actually have different owners?
