Big bikers are scheduled to gather in Phuket during Thai Water Festival of Songkran.

Around 10,000 participants are expected to gather in Phuket in mid April as part of their annual gathering during the Thai Water Festival of Songkran. The Phuket Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Office, Setthaphan Bhudhani, on Tuesday led Riders Club Chairman, Wittaya Singkara, to meet with Phuket Governor Preecha Ruangjan to discuss the organization of Phuket Bike Week and Motor Show 2009. The event will be held at Jungceylon shopping mall in Patong. Mr. Wittaya said he expects over 400 rider clubs from across the globe including neighbouring countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, United States, Hong Kong, and Japan to participate. Among highlights will be big bike contests, %26amp; stage performances. Riders will also ride their big bikes to campaign for road safety such as wearing helmets, and strictly observe traffic rules and laws.

';10000 participants are expected';

maybe knock a zero off that figure...have been in Patong twice when the bikes were there and it wasn%26#39;t that bad.If you are into bikes there will certainly be some nice machines there to check out,and everyone for the most is well behaved - I imagine the boys in brown will be keeping an eye on them.

Phuket Bike Week...10000 expected

Crazy planning to have it Songkran weekend when it%26#39;s busy anyway. I remember last year a lot of the bikers were getting p1ssed off of people throwing water and ice cubes on their clean and polished machines when they were riding round.

Would be like a video game - how many can you knock off with buckets of water or extra points for a water pistol in the face!

Glad Im leaving the Yorkshire on the 10th - might get a bit noisy that end of town!
