Quality Cheap Eats in Patong %26amp; Karon - suggestions !!

You will have no trouble in Patong. Our kids eat themselves silly. There are so many restaurants to choose from - it%26#39;s hard to pick any in particular - but if it%26#39;s reasonable prices you%26#39;re after... markets at Loma Park (opposite Club Andaman Beach Resort)and food court in basement of Jungceylon Shopping Center. Restaurants like Sabai Sabai, Sweet and the one opposite Sweet (down alleyways)are cheap with nice food (thai and western). The one opposite Sweet (name escapes me) has good pizza. We have found all hotels and restaurants have great food but the prices vary a lot. If you eat in the hotels you pay premium prices in the first place then you have to add taxes. Go to the northern end and eat at Che Bernard and the Beach restaurant. As a guide, we always check the price of spring rolls which incicates how expensive the restaurant is (shouldn%26#39;t be more than 120 Baht). Have a great time you lucky things.

I always visit Song Pee Nong on Rat-U-thit Road in Patong (near the Horizon) - cheap and friendly and tasty.

Also a great place to book tours from.

Have to agree. Never had a bad meal at Sabai Sabai, Song Pee Nong or Chez Bernard. There%26#39;s also a restaurant named Arroi and it%26#39;s across from Sabai Sabai; we ate there a lot last trip and the food is very good.

Also, for a cheap desert, try the pancakes made at the roadside stalls.

Have fun.

Cheers

Hi,

Where abouts in Karon are you staying?

My 14 yr old daughter %26amp; I stayed at the Karon Beach Resort which is at the south end of Karon %26amp; just opposite there is the Kata Villa Resort which has really cheap meals. We ended up going there for lunch %26amp; dinner about 3 times we enjoyed it so much.

Have a great holiday.

Jacqui

We stayed at the Horizon Karon Beach, the restaurant about 200m to the right of the road up to Horizon was a great cheap meal. We ate there several times. sorry I don%26#39;t know the name but they have a few outdoor tables and it%26#39;s higher than the footpath. Hope this helps.

Cheers Gary

My favourite in Patong

One that I read alot about was Sweet restaruant and it was good and a reasonable price, but the best quality in the cheap to moderate range that we had, was easily the cheapest, that was called %26#39;Break Point%26#39;. It is opposite Sweet restaurant.

Here is the address and some sample prices from October.

110/10 Thaweewong Road, Patong Kathu, Phuket ph (6676) 344211

www.phuketbreakpoint.com/restaurant-eng.htm

Its near the Patong Tower. Sometimes the turn off from beach road is hard to see because of some vendors stands being in the way but if coming from the south, its one or two turns before Bangla Road.

Sample prices from memory

Pizzas 120 (cheapest and best pizzas we had)

Pastas 120 (best pasta we had, though only tried a few places)

Pad Thai 60 (45 - 60 for similary thai dishes)

Various other Asian dishes 70 (approx)

Side of rice 10

Starter of great spring rolls 55 (was 90 at Banana)

Sundae 60

Soft drinks 15

To name just a few. They also have a variety of western foods and many other dishes. This was easily our favourite restaurant in Patong. Sweet was fine, but but no where near as good as this.

The owner is a Japanese guy named Nichioki (forgive my spelling if wrong)
