Scooter hire in CM

Can anyone give me some information about scooter hire in CM. I am looking to hire a well maintained scooter 100cc or higher for five days in early May.

Can anyone suggest a location to hire and what to expect to pay for a day or longer term (5days)

Also, is a international drivers licence needed? I have a full motorcycle licence in Aus.

Thanks

Lots of scooter rentals in CM, prices range from 150 to 250+ baht. You maybe able to negotiate a bit of a discount with longer term rentals. Hard to recommend anyone in particular, best to check out several and see who has the latest models, chances are they are in the best condition.

International D.L. are technically required, but most scooter shops don%26#39;t check that (most don%26#39;t even check if you have a license). They will however hang on to your passport as a security deposit.

There are many motorbike rental places. Look for bikes with low kilometers. Cost start at 100 Baht but might be 125 to 150. Big bikes are more. Don%26#39;t worry about an international drivers license.

They will want to keep your passport. (Something I don%26#39;t like but it is the norm.)Keep a photocopy of your passport with you and your Australian Drivers License.

Wear a helmet or you might be pulled over by the many police bribe points. If you don%26#39;t wear your helmet be prepared to either pay the bribe, 400 Baht, or go to the police station to retrieve your license for 400 Baht.

Glad I don%26#39;t live on your side of town Big Daddy ... it is only 200 baht for no helmet in our neighborhood ;-)

Thanks for the info and the PMs. I wont be leaving my passport with anyone. They are more than welcome to have a copy of it though or Ill find somewhere hopefully more flexible.

Once again, much appreciated.
