Have a look here 鈥alagata.com/w/arandora/Taxi_Fares_2009.doc
to give you an idea of current taxi fares from Bang Niang both localy and further afield.
They are taken from the taxi stands near the rear of the Chong Fah Resort but are not untypical of fares from Bang La On.
Local rates are based on using a Songthaew (truck with covered bench seats in the rear seating upto 8). Further afield saloon cars are used.
Taxi Fares March 2009
Roughly for a journey of say 5-7 km what do they charge for a songthaew ?
Taxi Fares March 2009
Judging by these prices about 350 baht.
Ouch ! I hope they are not heading to Phuket prices.
I don%26#39;t know how they get away with those prices down south, I guess people don%26#39;t have a choice.
In that price list, there is ';Khao Lak City'; (150b), is that same as La On? What do you think?
Yes, Bang La On is known as Khao Lak City, Khao Lak Town or just Khao Lak.
Hi
Anobody knows the best way to travel from Khao Sok (around noon) to Railey Beach ?
Is there a regular bus to Krabi and what is the fare ?
If its not too expensive we might consider a taxi - any idea of the cost ?
we are only in Thailand for 14 days, so we don%26#39;t to spend to much time on transport.
Best regards
Johs
Hi Johs,
In the absence of any information on a direct bus service to Krabi from Khao Lak, you can catch one of the frequent and cheap buses up to Takua Pa about 25km north where the bus terminus there is the hub for most transport. You could then catch a bus direct to Krabi from there or change at Phang Nga Town if there isn%26#39;t a direct connection.
The table of taxi fares in my original post shows 600 baht for an Air Con van to Krabi Town and then 400 baht for a long tail to Raillay. Not sure if that is per person though. I%26#39;ll ask later and post back.
The fares quoted for ';out of town'; trips are PER PERSON including pick up from your hotel/resort in Bang Niang.
