New airport distance to old airport

We are flying in to Subnarnabhumi airport and then catching a flight from the old airport the following day. How long does it take to get from one to the other? Any ideas on hotels sort of halfway? Thx :)

New airport distance to old airport

Be a good half hour in a cab assuming no huge traffic problems (can be a big assumption in Bangkok).

If you are looking for just a night%26#39;s sleep rather than going into Bangkok I would stay close to one or the other airports. Last year I stayed at the Thong Ta, which is about 5 minutes from the new airport - they will pick you up. I do emphasise that this hotel is fine for a ';transit stay'; i.e. clean, comfortable and an adequate breakfast and very cheap.

If you intend going into Bangkok I would find a hotel there for the night.

hi,about half hour from Subnarnabhumi airport to Donmuang Airport (old airport). You can catch a taxi and go to old airport by express way.

Just choose any hotel in central Bangkok - Sukhumvit, Silom, Siam, Phaya Thai, Victory Monument. That will put you around 40 minutes from Don Mueang Airport.

Thanks for your helpful comments :). Now booked hotel Rama Gardens just outside new airport.

Any idea on sort of taxi fare from one airport to the other?

Metered taxi, approximately 400 baht including tolls. Don%26#39;t even discuss a flat fare.

Rama Gardens is near Don Muang ( old airport as termed )

Since she said the hotel was near the ';new'; airport I had just assumed she had found yet another hotel near Suvarnabhumi. So, the old Rama Gardens in Laksi. OK, whatever floats your boat. Personally I would not want to stay in this hotel unless I had business in Laksi that required me to be nearby or something.

Lisilu, you don%26#39;t say when this is to be. You are aware of course that Thai Airways is moving its operations out of Don Muang on March 29th?

I see the hotel operates a shuttle bus every 90 min. or so from Suvarnabhumi. At least you could save the cost of the taxi that way.

Then - if you are indeed flying out of DMK - the taxi to the airport would be under 100 baht.

Oops sorry, new to this forum and chatting business!

Just rechecked which hotel we%26#39;re at - its the Bangkok Rama Hotel (Pattanakarn Road). Flying up to Ubon Ratchachani on 19th March!

Thank you for all the information - its so useful. In fact the hotel offers its limousine to the old airport but for 850THB so we will definitely get a metered taxi.

Sorry another question if I may. When we come back to Don Muang, we are going to meet friends in Pattaya. Any idea of taxi fare to there and should we agree a flat rate?
