South Sea Pakarang & Royal Bangsak

Does anyone know anything about either of these hotels? I am planning a holiday next winter in Khao Lak and can choose one of these 2 or the Merlin. I have seen postings re the Merlin which sounds very nice, but am concerned that there are no restaurants nearby.

Hello!

I stayed at South Sea Pakarang two weeks before the tsunami struck. It was a absolute lovely hotel and the environment was like a paradise. But I have been there in october 2005 and the hotel is closed down and it was no rebuilding work going on. The main hotel buildings was still there, but all the windows was blown out and all the villas close to the road was totally blown away, nothing was left of them. The beach looked like a war zone, trees was lying across the beach everywhere and we did not se one sigle person in the area. Sorry, but this garden of Eden don´t exist any loger there. It was very tragical to see it all...

Qeenbee2,

The Merlin is right on Khao Lak that you do not need to worry about local restaurants. Everything is walking distance. it could be a little bit crowded(maybe) on the beach (the resort is located on the beach) but close to everything. on the upside the staff are more equiped and the hotel facilities are better than the two resorts you mentioned

South sea:

Located in Pakarang 10 km from Khao lak you either need a motorbike (300 baht per day) or take taxi (350 baht per trip) if you want to go to khao Lak (resort is not on the beach it is across a street from the beach)

local restaurants could be found on either side of the resort and a 2km distance from the famous white sand beach. The facility is run down and the staff is not fully trained as of now maybe they will get better at high season or your winter season.

Royal Bangsak:

Too far from everything

if your looking for a quite place could be for you

I hope this helped you out if you need more information just reply to this message
