Thanks
This is most definitely a question for your doctor, who knows what vaccinations you%26#39;ve had in the past and when, your individual health condition and what risks you might have, and who knows where you are going and for how long.
There are many answers to the vaccination question. The answer that is right for you needs to be talked about with a doctor.
although i live here now for 15 years i holidayed here once or twice a year - started off with vaccs for typhoid cholera hepatitus tetanus - then the nurse eventually relented and tod me most weren%26#39;t really needed and the really painful one ( typhoid or cholera, had a less than 50% chance of working anyway). really you don%26#39;t need any - though you might like a tetanus booster just in case you scratch yourself on something
I have been travelling to Thailand for the past fifty years as my parents lived there and now my son resides in Bangkok.
I am travelling to Bangkok and Phuket in two weeks.
To travel from UK to Thailand you require, on doctor%26#39;s recommendation, to have an up to date typhoid injection(every three years) and Hepatitis A. Tetanus injections should be up to date also (every ten years?). A hepatitis A is recommended if you cut yourself or need stitches. Cholera and smallpox were eradicated many years ago. As a family we have never taken malaria tablets as in our experience taking them does not make any difference. I add, that we have live in the jungle and near swamps and no-one in the family has malaria!
When I first travelled to Thailand we had to have a written record of our immunisation%26#39;s included with our passports.
My own father was stopped from entering Thailand in the early 1960%26#39;s because although the UK had stopped requiring the smallpox injection Thailand stilled required it. He had to be injected at the airport before he could enter the country!
Sorry a hepatitis B is required if you cut yourself or need stitches
I am traveling back to the UK from NZ in May and flying with emirates which has a breif transit in Bangkok.
Do i need any vaccinations? As I am stopping in the airport for only 2 hours I would so I wouldn%26#39;t need any, but any help would be great.
Thanks,
Laura.
2 Hours in the airport!! Absolutely no worries!
Dengue Fever exists in Bangkok at the moment. No vaccination, just get that repellent out and cover up. Dont let mozzies bite you for the sake of it.
