Is Bangkok safe to go to now?

Hello. I am planning to move to bangkok for my CFA Level 2 test in the first week of June 2009.

Is it safe to go there considering the riots those persisted towards the end of 2008....

If someone could please advise on the same?

Is Bangkok safe to go to now?

Hi;

Bangkok is as safe as you can feel Safe. The streets

violence during last year 2008 confined in the Protesters areas Government house and mainly the Airports . I was there unfortunately and costly to escape Bangkok .

The Thai%26#39;s political unrest is only Domestic problem and Has Nothing against foreigner . The only fear are inconvience and financial damages to Visitors If Get trapped

Is Bangkok safe to go to now?

Yes, it is safe! It was safe during the ';riots'; which really never occurred! Yes, there was some political demonstrations that blocked the airports but tourists were in no danger. There were some political demonstrations near the government offices, so avoid that area if the same thing happens again! What happened last year was a political demonstration not an all out design to hurt anyone, especially tourists!

Since November there probably has been over 2, perhaps 3 million tourists that have come and gone through Thailand.

The news media, especially in the West, made things look worse than they were. I repeat, no tourists were the targets of these past political demonstrations!

Take a chance, tourism is down because of the sensationalistic news stories everyone has seen on the TV, prices are at all time lows for hotel stays!

Now is a good time to visit.

Have fun.

Besides the fracas at the airport for a week, foreigner were in no way affected bu the protestor. As for tourism safety in regards to riots, that isnt and wasn%26#39;t even an issue. Above comments already summed it up well.

Dont listen to sensationalized reports from some western media, or/ and armchair critics of Thaland whose closest real experience of Thailand is a bowl of Tom Yum Soup out of their local Thai take-away shop.

Bkk is as safe as any big city - no less safe if you use common sense, but certainly no safer. Don%26#39;t listen too much to those who gloss over safety issues and pretend Thailand is a paradise - it isn%26#39;t by a long way. There is no substitute for common sense, and read up on scams to avoid.
