Kata/Patong/karon - Help!!

Hi,

Sorry to be a pest, but it will be my first time to Thailand.

I%26#39;m hoping to travel in september, would I be better in Koh samui because of the weather?

If not, I am looking for somewhere pretty lively, with beach bars/restaurants, but not too commercial?

I%26#39;ve pretty much ruled out Patong (too commercial?) but am unsure about karon or Kata?

Which would you recommend - we are a couple in late 20%26#39;s with no children enjoy nice food and good bars with music, quite chilled out?

Would like a nice hotel budget is about 拢1000 for 10 days for hotel only (flights already priced)

Thanks for all advice!!!

xx

Kata/Patong/karon - Help!!

The best time to enjoy Phuket is November to April.

For weather Koh samui would be much better at that time of year.

Karon and Kata are less busy than Patong. The difference you have with Samui is that there are far more places to stay that are right on the beach with absolute beachfront on Samui compared with Kata, karon etc. Kata and Karon are both quite developed.

Kata/Patong/karon - Help!!

Late 20%26#39;s ? Don%26#39;t rule out Patong completely. By staying at the far north (eg Novotel or Diamond Cliff) or south ends of the beach (eg Amari Coral reef, Holiday Inn) you will avoid the %26#39;too%26#39; commercial parts, but still be walking distance if you want to head in. Even Merlin Beach resort or Le Meridien, just out of Patong, but will involve always taking transport.

I would add though that Chaweng is also very developed.

To a great extent if you want walking time to bars and restaurants then in general those places are going to be developed. In it very general. Perhaps have a look at Koh Phangan near Samui, or as it is so close perhaps split your time between Samui and Koh Phangan so that you can mix busy Chaweng or lamai with a different style on koh Phangan, it%26#39;s only a short boat trip between the 2 so does give a mix to your time.

Thanks so much for your help, the split sounds a good idea, would you say that 10-12 nights is enough for this? Aslo staying 2 in Bangkok so will be about 14-15 in total.

Is Lamai fairly busy? x
