Restaurants are running out of business?

I was reading some comments that Khao Lak area has been suffering for tourist loss... And due to this lesser amount of visitors, places are closing (like smaller restaurants)? And the ones that stay open, are increasing their prices quite a lot. Is this true?

Any comments is the Mr. Indian still open?

And about what is their price range if they are still open?

There are double number of restaurants this year while the guest is more or less the same number (4,500 rooms in total (4,000 for last year) but less occupancy). None of resetaurant and even hotel will increase their prices.

If you come in the low season or in the beginning of next high season, Khao Lak is very value for you money.

Its a global problem, theres a few closed in Amsterdam, i heard about 30 pubs a day are closing in the UK, lets hope by the end of this year things start to pick up, you get sick of hearing about all this gloom and doom.

Khaolaker makes a very good point. There will be some very good deals for visitors to Khao Lak. This makes it better value, according to my own calculations, for Europeans to go to Khao Lak than the more usual destinations.

Well it wont if the exchange rates stay as they are, its already more expensive to visit Thailand than it was a year ago, especially with the weak dollar and pound.

Some of the pricier ';Thai fusion'; type restaurants have closed, some restaurants have increased their prices by about 10 to 20 baht per main course. Lots of new restaurants have opened, particularly in Bang Niang. There is now a Mrs. India as well as Mr. India. All in all an even wider selection of excellent eateries.

Even with the very significant reduction in bahts for 拢s and to a lesser degree 鈧?for bahts, dining out in Khao Lak, especially at local eating places is excellent value for money.

We have just returned from a superb Thai here in Bang Niang, where we splashed out on some house wine, a house seafood speciality main course and another very unusual but excellent beef main and total for 2 was 1020 baht. Most nights dinner costs no more than 500 baht.

Mr.India is on your right as you enter Bang La On, opposite the yellow Khao Lak Grand City building. Mrs.India is on the right, also in Bang La On, just past the Happy Snapper Bar. Both are about the same walking distance from the Nang Thong Supermarket.

There are two Indian restaurants in Bang Niang, one in the fomer Gecko%26#39;s Sports Bar, which is, I believe, Thai owned and not authentic Indian cuisine, and one on the first road to the left off the Beach Road leading down to and nearly opposite the entrance to La Flora. The menu here is extensive, different and superb with the best naan bread we have ever had - melts in your mouth. We took our own bottle of wine and the price for dinner for two was about 1000 baht.

Prices are higher than Thai restaurants, averaging somewhere between a pizzeria and a steakhouse.

Yes, same place as Monty%26#39;s.

Our meal included 2 poppadums with 3 dips, 1 onion, 1 spicy mint and 1 delicious tamarind with mango; 1 speciality deep fried cottage cheese appetizer; 2 different curries, 1 vegetable (potato) dish and 2 garlic naan breads.
