shopping

Shopping in Bangkok is easy. There are lots of street vendors all over the city especially in the Sukhumvit Road area, Patpong night market, MBK, Phetchaburi Road and the Chatuchak Weekend Market.

Get a hotel near the Skytrain and you can reach many of these places pretty easy.

Few links on shopping. More available using Google and writing in ';shopping in Bangkok!';

You can get knockoff watches on the streets, sometimes in the malls there are some small concessions selling watches. On Phetchaburi Road, near the Baiyoke Tower Hotel, there is a mini garment center. Panthip Plaza Computer Mall is almost across the street.

Good luck.

shopping

Really give the cheap/fake items a thorough going over.

I usually have to repair one of my wife%26#39;s purses at least once a week, mostly bad hardware.

She has had two shoes have the entire soles completely come off the uppers.

And, she still comes home with street vendor ';bargains';!

I can%26#39;t afford to buy expensive items and found MBK to be excellent. They have quite a lot of shoe shops but if you have big feet then forget it. They also sell copy bags but not a great amount, as well as clothes, movies, cd%26#39;s, watches, mobile phones, underwear...

The area around the Baiyoke Sky Hotel and the Indra Regent is a great place for shopping. You can buy souvenir T-Shirts as well as ';designer'; t-shirts - just feel them before you buy to make sure they are good quality. This area is known as Pratunam and is the wholesale garment district so there are heaps of clothes available here. ALso walk over to the Platinum Mall.

I found there were several shops in the Indra Regent Shopping Centre which had excellent copy bags (close to MacDonalds). The street stalls also sell them and I got into the habit of just scanning everything as I walked around loooking for the particular bags I wanted.

Suan Lum Night market is also a great place to shop and I purchased several copy bags there.

Everyone goes to the Chatachak Markets on the weekends but I found the place to be too hot, too big and too confusing. Maybe if I had more time I may have enjoyed it more as it was fascinating.

Copy bags were also plentiful at the Patpong night markets.

Just remember to bargain with a smile. Have a great holiday.

thanks a lot !

you ve been very helpfull

may i ask you another question ?

do you know any cheap, clean, and safe place to have some massage ?

thanks a lot in advance

As I stayed at the Baioyke this was the only area I went for massages. Just down from the hotel were several massage places. There were always groups of women sitting outside trying to get you in. I picked one and the 1st time I just had a foot massage - very relaxing. One time I took my family and we went for the body massage - can be painful but they know how to iron out the kinks.

I saw massage parlours in all the touristy areas - just pick one (as long as you aren%26#39;t in the redlight district!).

Do you know aprox how much can cost the massages, facial, and whole body ?

thanks a lot

I honestly can%26#39;t remember how much the massages cost. They weren%26#39;t expensive at all.

We stayed at Baiyoke Sky Hotel and we went for massages at Indra Square shopping centre. There%26#39;s a McDonald%26#39;s inside and right next to it there%26#39;s escalators going down. When you get to the bottom turn right and walk 10 metres there%26#39;s a massage place that do Thai massages (painful) or relaxation massage. This cost us $250 baht for full body approx 45 minutes. You can get 1 hour massage, but because we had toddlers with us we didn%26#39;t. Actually our toddlers had a massage to, for same price as us.

If you go down the escalators and turn left you%26#39;ll see tables where people are eating their McDonald%26#39;s and just around the corner there is a place called Cherry Beauty Salon and Spa. I haven%26#39;t had a facial done but it will cost you 500 baht for whitening and 600 baht for firming and wrinkle ( I don%26#39;t know what whitening means). They say that all products are imported from USA ';Swiss Formula'; St Ives. My toddlers get their nails painted there so that%26#39;s how I know about the place and I%26#39;ve got their brochure, so that%26#39;s how I know the price. They open at 10am and they don%26#39;t seem to do bookings.

You Can try this too:
