Moderately Priced Restaurants

Looking for some nice places to eat that don%26#39;t cost an arm and a leg, and have good service. A garden or an ';old thai house'; feel to them are a plus.

Anybody want to comment on or add to the ones below:

Ban Chiang

Ban Khun Mae

Bua

Cabbage %26amp; Condoms

Chef Thanom

Falabella

Fuzio

Gallery on Soi 11

Gallery Cafe

Harmonique

Indus

Secret Garden

Seefah

Somboon Seafood

Tongue Thai

Kinaree

Baan Khanitha (Soi 23)

Kamthieng House

Only one comment. Cabbages and Condoms should be missed. Bland food for tourists, very simply.

Moderately Priced Restaurants

Agree 100% with the above. You should be looking for places with few tourists, but busy. SeeFah is a chain with several branches selling decent Thai food, similar to Banana. Baan Kanitha has several branches but I would not call it moderate price - its expensive, and you pay for the decor rather than the reasonable food. Again, Bua is part of a chain with decent food.

Just noticed you have Barn Khun Mae too. Very pleasant and centrally located, close to Hard Rock Cafe for cocktails before or after.

One other choice might be Leelawadee. (My personal favourite in BKK.

Hi Eggchaser, Leelawadee looks really nice! Is it possible to get there by public transport? or will we need a taxi to get there?

It%26#39;s not too far from Huay Kwang on the underground but probably too far to walk from there. If you want to avoid traffic, use the underground and take a taxi from there. It should be no more than 50 baht.

One of my favourites is missing from your list:

Once Upon A Time, a nice jungle garden in midle of BKK.

Thanks for the feedback. Anybody else want to comment?

Hi Alex,

Harmonique: food is good and most of all I found the atmosphere very original. I would suggest you this restaurant.

Cabbage %26amp; Comdoms: found food so-so but eating under trees in the quiet garden is nice :)

Somboon Seafood: I was deceived by the food, not so great. Won%26#39;t go back again.

Check out some food courts. Lots of varieties of food at good prices.

For a quick meal you also can go one of the in store restaurants. Tops, some of the newer Villa Markets and the best is probably the Foodland supermarketrestaurants.

Foodland, Sukhumvit Soi 5, in store restaurant is called the Took Lae Dee. Daily breakfast specials, other dinner specials during the day. Bakery in store, also you can choose a steak off of the meat counter in the store and have the restaurant cook it to order for you (small charge of course.)

If you sit down at the grill end you can even get a quick, mini cooking lesson while waiting for you dinner.

Happy eating.
