Good Times Travel Service

Has anyone used this tour company? Please let me know what you thought of them/

Thanks!

Good Times Travel Service

We just got back from a trip with Good Times Travel Service. Overall we were very happy with them. They were able to offer us a personal custom tour. There was good communication via emails and offered a good price. They were also reliable and did a good job of getting us to the places that we wanted to go. They also did a superb job of calling ahead to reserve our lunch and dinners which meant that the best food came quickly and we were given some of the best tables. Our guide%26#39;s name was ';Anna';. She had a very sunny personality and made you feel at ease so you we enjoy our holiday.

If I were to do it again I would use Good Times Travel but I would review the start times and confirm the return time. On the last day we could have left later so we didn%26#39;t have to wait around for lunch and for some reason we also had to wait for a driver to return us to Bangkok. This time could have been put to better use. Also if you do a custom tour research the places you want to visit thoroughly. A couple of times I had requested that we do a couple of specific activities only to be told that they were unable to do them. In one instance I contacted the person directly and we could have done the activity. But this could happen with any company who does not use these services or do these activities regularly.

These are small things but they should be noted.

The bottom line we had a great time and we would use them again.

Have a fantastic holiday!

Good Times Travel Service

I have just written this!

I have just returned from a 15 day holiday in Thailand. I have to say that the highlight of our holiday was a tour booked independently with a company in Kanchanaburi called ‘Good Times Travel Service’.

I had seen the tour advertised on the internet prior to visiting Thailand, but could not find any reviews on this company so was reluctant to pay prior to arriving. So I booked the tour on arrival in Kanchanaburi, it cost 8.000. THB per person.

My family consists of myself age 50, Husband age 48, Daughters aged 23 and 19. We are all reasonably fit, I am the least fit of the family! But I do have an active job as I am a Nurse in the UK. For footwear I wore ‘Crocks’ for the 3 days.

The tour is detailed on the company web site and does exactly what they say they will do. www.good-times-travel.com/trek3d2n.php

Day One. We were picked up from our guest house at 09.00, in a air conditioned mini bus, we travelled to local shops where Noi, our guide picked out produce for our supper. We then set of for the Chaloem Ratanakosin National Park. On the way Noi stopped at a road side seller and gave us some bamboo sticks, we thought that they were for fire wood, but they contained hot rice pudding!

At the park we had lunch, the first of many delicious meals ordered for us by Noi. Then at 13.00 we set off to walk through the park to a Karan (Hill Tribe) village located at the top of the park. The Villagers run a Homestay.

The walk through the national park was fantastic, past waterfalls, caves with bats and stalagmites. Wonderful views and vegetation. We arrived at the simple Karan accommodation at about 17.00. the mini bus and driver met us at the village. So we did not have to carry anything.

The huts were in a tree house style, with mosquito nets, blankets and pillows. The bathrooms had western toilets, and the shower was a dish of cold water, electricity is on till about 23.00.

Later Noi and the villagers cooked us a delicious seven course supper from the ingredients we had brought with us. The things I can remember were Spicy Soup, Green Thai Curry, Sweet %26amp; Sour, Pad Thai, Beef %26amp; Veg.

Then it was off to the Tree Houses. I admit this was not the best nights sleep I have ever had, but I did sleep.

Day Two. After breakfast we set of in the mini bus and crossed the Srinakarin Lake by ferry. This time Noi produced Coconuts with a frozen jelly in them as a treat. We arrived at the Erawen Waterfalls late morning and spent a large part of our day here, climbing up to the top waterfall.

We then drove to the river and went on a bamboo raft to the Thaweechai Elephant Camp where we rode and bathed the Elephants. It was then a quick dash to the Sai Yock National Park, to stay overnight on the raft houses...in a lovely bed!

Day Three.

A long tailed boat took us to see the Sai Yok Yai Falls, they are very close to the camp.

Then we went to have lunch on the banks of the River Kwai...what a lunch! Fit for kings, dishes included crispy River Fish in Garlic and a fabulous Fondue, with Veg, Calamari, Chicken, Pork and Liver.

Then it was into tow man canoes to paddle down the Kwai River, and under the famous bridge. To be met in Kanchanaburi by our faithful driver who took us to our accommodation.

I would recommend this tour as we ate things we would never have ordered, as we would not have known what they were! Also Kanchanaburi is only 2 hours drive and 4 hours train ride from Bangkok...so why trail up to Chang Mai?

Thanks to Noi and all the team at Good Times for a really great experience of a very different Thailand than we later saw in Phuket.
