Pat's cooking school or others in patong or karon area.

I understand Pat has wonderful reviews for her cooking school.

I am staying at Karon Sea Sands Hotel. How far is her cooking school from the hotel I will be staying? It is 700 baht round trip to her school for two people. If I decide to take a tuk tuk, will the school be difficult for the driver to find?

What other schools are there in my area other than Pat%26#39;s

Going in 9 days. I am finalizing my plans. I dont want to book any classes since I am not sure about my friends itinerary. I may have to book last minute.

thanks in advance

The 700B is for one car. A driver picked me up from my hotel and Pat drove me back to my hotel. Her house is somewhat out of the way and in the residential part of town. If you do take a tuk-tuk, she suggested having the driver call her so she can give him directions. I decided that was too much hassel for me.

I reserved her ahead of time but you don%26#39;t have to confirm or pay until you get to Phuket. She actually called me at my hotel to confirm.

Thank you Jenny...

I do appreciate you are still participating here on the forum. You have so much valuable information.

I will do just that. I will let Pat know that we cannot confirm just yet. In addition, I will have her driver pick me up as well. I was just concerned that I would spend an hour just to get to her home. Im playing around with two different days for the cooking class based on how I am feeling after scuba diving. Furthermore, my travel partner didnt want to commit until we get there. He wants to see what Patong has to offer first.

I am looking forward to her class and drinking wine with the other students while cooking. I will be a blast.

Let me know if you consider coming to Los Angeles. I will help you and drive you around. If you havent been to LA, there is so much to do here.

Thanks again.

Hi

We did The Phuket Thai Cookery School class which included transfers from Karon. We really enjoyed the class %26amp; it was in a beautiful setting. I have done a review here on TA %26amp; included photos %26amp; should come up if you do a search.

Happy cooking

Hi Ariel

You could also try the cooking classes at Mom Tri%26#39;s Boathouse on the southern end of Kata Beach (about 3 minutes drive from Karon.

Check out their website: boathousephuket.com/鈥ookbook

The chef there is Khun Tummanoon. He is an excellent chef and can also speak pretty good English. Great sense of humour as well.

I believe the classes are conducted over the weekend mornings and you enjoy your food with some good wine afterwards at the restaurant there.

Regards

Chantal

Thanks all of you.

After looking at all three classes, I am leaning towards the one school. I feel all of them will be good. Pat being the least expensive at $40 USD, but inside an apartment. Although she will pick us up. The boat house seems very elaborate and I would get to see the hotel for my next visit. However, at $63USD, it is much nicer environment. Now, thaicookery, I think will be my first choice, but I havent heard a price from the website. I just emailed them. I will need them to pick me up at the hotel or can I take a taxi or tuk tuk from the Karon Sea Sands Hotel?

Something about outdoor cooking that I feel will really have a fun effect to cooking. An outdoor breeze will cool off the food, but I am there for the tropical effect and what better than cooking outside. Not to mention the outdoor will help me with my alcohol consumption. I need the fresh air because of my allergy to the alcohol. guzzle..guzzle. :}

I will update you on my decision for the other members as well.

Chantal, (phuket scuba club) I will definately see you for scuba diving. Will you hold my hand in the water? I get really scared...just kidding. Well, I do..kinda.LOL Do I advertise for you at every chance I get? Laughing....

Don%26#39;t worry about transfers to the cookery school - it is included in the price. They will pick you up in the hotel foyer in a nice aircon van.

We did the most expensive course which was 2200bt. I think the others were 1900bt but we liked the food in the one we did.

I was aprehensive at first booking this one as there wasn%26#39;t any reviews on TA about it, but because it was on a different part of the island where otherwise we wouldn%26#39;t probably go we thought we would give it a try. And we are both really glad we did because we had a great time. On the way home from Sirery island they stopped at a reserve for monkeys so we cold have a look %26amp; we wouldn%26#39;d have gone there either. I hope my review %26amp; photos helped.

Cheers

Yes, thanks for the PM.

Your reviews helped, but I never found the photos.

I am still waiting for the cost and if they will pick me up at the hotel.

Hey Pete, I will leave a bottle of wine at the cooking school for you to enjoy on your next visit....lol

Cheers and thank you again. I will ping you when I return from my trip. If I find an internet cafe, I will post as well.

By the way, this is my 100th post.

Do you mean ';Pat%26#39;s Home Thai Cooking School';

I went to her class last month to take a VDO for my site for make more some information of Phuket.

The school is clean and Pat, she is really nice teacher

More information for you decision you can see at this link on youtube.com ---%26gt; www.youtube.com/watch鈥?/a>

Hope my information can help all...

Hi There, all the schools mentioned get very good revues on this and other sites and i am sure they are excellent. If you are looking to do another, Pums cooking school in the middle of Patong Beach on Rat-U-Thit road is also very good and includes a market visit as well. I did the 4 hour class last year and i loved it, my teacher was Pui and the class size was only 4 so it was very hands on. Pui is a lovely Thai girl with a great sence on Humor and i can thoroughly recommend it.
